Peter Mace, Ph.D.
Peter Mace, Ph.D., is a protein biochemist and structural biologist at the University of Otago, New Zealand, whose research investigates the mechanisms of ubiquitin transfer. His work uses structural, biochemical, and biophysical techniques to uncover processes critical to disease progression and therapeutic development, particularly focusing on how kinases and ubiquitin ligases control protein degradation and cellular signaling pathways. Dr. Mace has been supported by fellowships from the University of Otago, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Royal Society of New Zealand. His research program, funded by the Marsden Fund and Health Research Council, includes significant collaboration in early-stage drug discovery at the interface between academia and industry, particularly in novel ubiquitin ligases and pseudokinases. Professor Mace also serves as Associate Dean (Research) in the School of Biomedical Sciences and as President of the New Zealand Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
